Wijaya Meat Curry Powder Mixture is a ground spice blend made in Sri Lanka and formulated specifically for meat dishes. Produced by Wijaya Products (Pvt) Ltd at their facility in Dodangoda, Kalutara, the blend has been part of the company's range since it was established in 1989. It arrives in laminated sachets designed to protect the spices from moisture and light.
The declared ingredients on the packaging are chilli at 54%, coriander at 17%, garlic at 6%, pepper at 5%, and ginger, together with thirteen different condiments that are pan-fried before the mixture is milled. Chilli is clearly the backbone of the blend, giving it a deep, warm heat, while coriander provides the earthy base note characteristic of Sri Lankan meat curries. The condiments are pan-fried together before processing, a step that rounds out the flavour and gives the finished powder its aroma.
The cooking instruction printed on the pack calls for 50 g of the powder per 1.5 kg of meat, with salt and a souring agent added to taste. That ratio gives a confident, well-seasoned result without requiring the cook to blend individual spices beforehand — the mixture is complete as it comes. The sachets are available in 50 g and 100 g sizes, so a single pouch can cover a family-sized batch of curry.
Wijaya Products holds ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certification, and the company exports to more than twenty countries across Australia, Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. The presence of a manufacture date and expiry date printed on every batch means freshness is straightforward to verify before use.
