Wijaya Spices, Curry Powder & Flour from Sri Lanka

Wijaya

Wijaya is one of the spice and pantry brands found in almost every Sri Lankan kitchen. It started in 1989 as a small paddy and chilli mill run by the Kothalawala family at Thudugala Junction in Dodangoda, Kalutara District. Two brothers, Aruna and Nirmala Kothalawala, then still university students, turned it into a business, adding new ground spice blends, a wider distribution network and eventually a modern factory. Wijaya Products (Pvt) Ltd now employs more than 1,200 people and sells through shops and supermarkets in every district of the island.

The core of the range is Sri Lankan curry powder. Curry Powder, Roasted Curry Powder and Jaffna Curry Powder are built on coriander, cumin and fennel with curry leaves, rampe, cinnamon and cardamom, with no added MSG. Meat Curry Powder, Red Fish Curry Powder and Milky Fish Curry Powder are roasted whole-spice mixes for particular dishes. Single spices include chilli powder, roasted chilli powder, chilli pieces, turmeric and pepper ground from grade 1 peppercorns grown in the Kandy and Matale districts, plus whole seeds such as coriander, fennel and fenugreek.

Wijaya is certified to ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 22000 for food safety, ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for health and safety, and its tea carries the Ceylon Tea lion logo. The company already exports to more than 20 countries, including Australia, the UK, Germany, Italy, the USA, Canada, Japan and the Middle East; we ship these packs worldwide from Sri Lanka, so you can cook a proper rice and curry wherever you live.
