Mc Currie Mace Powder is ground mace, sold in a 1kg pack for kitchens and heavy home use. Mace is the dried, lacy red covering (aril) that wraps the nutmeg seed; once dried it turns orange-brown, and ground it becomes a soft, golden powder.
Mace tastes like a lighter, more delicate nutmeg, warm and slightly sweet. It is often paired with other aromatic spices in blends and used in both sweet and savoury cooking.
In the pack
- Ground mace
- 1kg pack
- The maker holds ISO 22000 food safety, HACCP and Halal certification
In the kitchen
Add a pinch to soups, white sauces and gravies, to chicken and fish dishes, and to biryani and spice blends. In baking it suits cakes, biscuits, custards and puddings. Use it sparingly, as it is strongly aromatic.
