This is the classic Sri Lankan mango chutney, made by MA's Kitchen under its Happy Home label. Happy Home joined MA's in 1995, bringing chutneys, pickles and pachadis into the range.
The chutney is made with chunky pieces of local mango preserved in a spiced vinegar syrup, with garlic, mustard, ginger and chilli. Mango makes up 45% of the recipe. The taste is a mix of fruity sweetness and a sharp, vinegary tang, which makes it a good contrast to spicy food. It comes in a 200g jar.
Ingredients
- Sugar
- Mango (45%)
- Garlic
- Vinegar
- Spices & Herbs (Mustard, Ginger, Chilli)
- Salt
- Stabiliser (Pectin INS-440)
Allergens: Mustard.
How to use
Serve straight from the jar as a side. Scoop it up with crispy breads such as papadam or roti, spoon it beside spicy vegetable curries for a sweet contrast, or add a little to a plate of everyday rice and curry to brighten the meal. It also sits well alongside other Sri Lankan sambols and pickles on a shared table.
Made in Sri Lanka by MA’s Tropical Food Processing (Pvt) Ltd, the family company behind MA’s Kitchen, founded in Dambulla in 1985 and the first in Sri Lanka to gain SQF food safety certification. See the full MA’s Kitchen range.
