Mc Currie Tamarind is dried tamarind (Tamarindus indica) in a 100g pouch: the brown, sticky, sweet-sour pulp of the tamarind pod. It is the souring agent for many Sri Lankan curries, chutneys and pickles.
Tamarind grows across Sri Lanka, and its pulp is soaked and squeezed to make a sour liquid for cooking. It is cleaned, graded, ground and packed at the maker's factory in Makumbura, Pannipitiya, and vacuum packed in a red printed pouch.
