MA's Kitchen Turmeric Paste is made from fresh Sri Lankan turmeric root, ground into a convenient paste that saves peeling and grating. It brings turmeric's golden colour and warm, earthy flavour to the pot in a single spoonful.
The paste contains nothing but fresh turmeric, grown by farmers in Sri Lanka and processed by MA's Kitchen at Dambulla. Fresh turmeric has a brighter, more rounded taste than dried powder, and in Sri Lankan cooking it is behind the colour of everyday dishes such as parippu (dhal curry), vegetable curries and yellow rice. Use it in curries, soups and marinades wherever a recipe calls for turmeric. The 150g jar keeps a steady supply on hand for regular home cooking.
Ingredients
- Fresh Sri Lankan Turmeric
How to use
Use in place of fresh or ground turmeric in curries, soups and marinades; a small amount goes a long way, so start with about half a teaspoon and adjust for colour. For Parippu (Dhal Curry), stir the paste into the lentils with onion, green chilli and curry leaves as they simmer, then finish with coconut milk. Use a clean, dry spoon each time.
Made in Sri Lanka by MA’s Tropical Food Processing (Pvt) Ltd, the family company behind MA’s Kitchen, founded in Dambulla in 1985 and the first in Sri Lanka to gain SQF food safety certification. See the full MA’s Kitchen range.
