Nutmeg is the dried seed kernel of the fruit of an evergreen tree, Myristica fragrans, the only tropical tree that yields two distinct spices — nutmeg from the seed itself, and mace from the lacy covering around it. It is valued above all for its sweet, warm aroma. Our nutmeg is grown by organic farmers without synthetic fertilisers or pesticides, then dried and milled to a fine powder in small batches so that the aroma of the freshly ground seed carries through to the jar.
100% organic certified by USDA Organic and Control Union. In plain terms, this means the growing and the processing behind this powder have both been inspected and certified by independent bodies against organic standards — not simply described as natural. Nothing is added at the milling stage: no artificial colours, no flavourings, no preservatives, no bulking agents. What is in the pack is ground nutmeg and nothing else.

Nutmeg is a kitchen spice first. Use it to flavour curries and everyday savoury cooking, and in confectionery and baking, where a small quantity is usually enough — it is a spice to measure carefully rather than pour. It works in puddings and sweet batters, in soups, sauces and baked dishes, and as a seasoning for meat and vegetables. It is also used in beverages and drinks, stirred into warm milk or dusted over the top. Beyond the kitchen, nutmeg oleoresin is used commercially in prepared foods, and nutmeg oil in cosmetics and toiletries. Like the island's other spices, nutmeg has long been valued in Sri Lankan kitchens and traditional households. Store the powder closed and away from heat and light, and grind-fresh aroma will last longer.
