The Jaf Classic Gold Collection Ceylon Supreme is a line of pure Ceylon teas produced by Jafferjee Brothers (Pvt) Ltd, a Sri Lankan family business trading since 1944. Each format within the collection draws from a single, named region of the island, and every variety is packed in Sri Lanka — a point of principle for a company whose teas reach more than thirty countries.
The collection brings together two distinct growing territories, each shaping the tea in its own way. The tea-bag variant draws from a select estate in the Dimbulla region, a high-grown district situated at altitudes above 1,250 metres, where cooler air and pronounced seasonal variation define the character of the leaf. The whole-leaf tin caddy variants come from the Ruhuna region in the south of the island — low-grown country where the soil and warmer conditions encourage the tea bush to produce long, generous leaves. This is a fundamentally different landscape from Dimbulla, and the tea it yields is distinct in its own right. The sole ingredient declared across the whole-leaf variants is Ceylon black tea.
The whole-leaf formats carry the grade designation Pekoe, a whole-leaf grade associated with larger, less broken leaf material. In the Ruhuna context, whole-leaf Pekoe is known for producing a deeply coloured, full-flavoured liquor. The tea-bag format offers the Dimbulla character in a convenient everyday format, while the tin caddy variants — at 175 g of select estate whole leaf — suit those who prefer to brew loose leaf and want a format that keeps the tea fresh over repeated use.
Across the whole-leaf tin caddy options, Jaf Tea carries the Ceylon Tea Symbol of Quality — the Lion Logo administered by the Sri Lanka Tea Board. This mark confirms that the contents are one hundred per cent pure Ceylon tea, that the tea was packed on the island, and that it meets the quality standards set by the Board. Overseas packers are not permitted to use the logo regardless of the tea's origin, so its presence here is a meaningful assurance rather than a decorative one.
The collection is available in several formats to suit different brewing habits and quantities: a 25-bag cardboard box at 50 g, foil-envelope tea bags in a 20-bag format at 40 g, a 100-bag box at 200 g, a 175 g tin caddy of select estate whole leaf, a 250 g loose leaf option, and a 250 g stand-up pouch, among others. Selecting the right format from the option ladder on this page will show you the specific region and presentation for each choice.
