About this experience
Step into a village workshop near Tissamaharama and spend 90 minutes learning the traditional art of buffalo curd making. Your English-speaking guide walks you through each stage of the process — from heating and setting the milk to ladling the fresh curd into clay pots — explaining how local curd makers have worked this craft for generations. The experience is private, so you set the pace and ask as many questions as you like.
At the end of the demonstration, sit down to a bowl of freshly made curd drizzled with kithul treacle, the rich palm syrup that's a staple of Sri Lankan village tables. Children aged five and above are welcome. Hotel pickup, additional food, and gratuities are not included, so arrange your own transport to the workshop and bring a little extra for tips if you wish.
