Sera Mixed Herbal Porridge is a dry mix for kola kenda, Sri Lanka's green leaf porridge. It belongs to the Samaayu herbal porridge range from CBL's Sera brand, and one 50g box makes three servings.

The base is rice, cooked with four leaves: karapincha, the curry leaf (Murraya koenigii), gotukola (Centella asiatica), welpenela (Cardiospermum halicacabum) and hathawariya (Asparagus racemosus). Soya, garlic, coconut milk powder and ginger complete the ingredient list, and the leaves turn the finished porridge a bright green.

Preparation takes a saucepan and a few minutes. Add the contents of the pack little by little to 450ml, or three cups, of water, bring it to the boil and keep it on the heat for three minutes, stirring all the time. Season with salt, and pepper if you like, and serve it hot.

The mix is made and packed in Sri Lanka by Plenty Foods (Pvt) Ltd at Pallekelle, near Kandy, part of the CBL group. Store the box in a cool, dry place. It is offered as a traditional food, not as a medicine.
