Happy Home Date Chutney is made by MA's Kitchen under its Happy Home label, which joined MA's in 1995. It is made from sun-ripened dates and mild spices, and has a mellow, fruity, velvety sweetness without heat, which makes it a favourite with children as well as adults.
Dates make up 36.5% of the recipe, with sugar, vinegar, garlic, a little chilli and ginger. Serve it alongside fragrant yellow rice, or use it as a sticky, savoury glaze for roast meats and grilled chicken. This jar holds 200g.
Ingredients
- Sugar
- Dates (36.5%)
- Vinegar
- Garlic
- Spices & Herbs (Chilli, Ginger)
- Salt
How to use
Serve it at the table with yellow rice, biriyani or a rice and curry spread. To use it as a glaze, brush it over roast meats or grilled chicken during the last ten minutes of cooking, so it turns sticky and caramelised without burning. It also makes a mild dip for samosas and other fried snacks.
Made in Sri Lanka by MA’s Tropical Food Processing (Pvt) Ltd, the family company behind MA’s Kitchen, founded in Dambulla in 1985 and the first in Sri Lanka to gain SQF food safety certification. See the full MA’s Kitchen range.
