This Malwatte jar holds pandan flakes, dried pandan leaf cut into small pale green pieces. Pandan, called rampe in Sri Lanka, gives a sweet, grassy scent that is part of the familiar smell of a Sri Lankan curry.
Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has kept a herb garden at Warwick Estate since 2020, and dries and packs its herbs and spices in its own factory.
