Dried lemongrass flakes from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 16g. Lemongrass stalks are cut into small flakes and dried, keeping the fresh, lemony aroma that the grass is grown for.
The flakes are fibrous, so they are best simmered and strained, or ground before use. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has exported since 1992 and processes and packs its spices in its own factories, which hold ISO 22000 certification.
In the pack
- 16g of dried lemongrass flakes
- Flat printed sachet with a grey and lime green label
The grey label prints the name in English, Sinhala and Tamil, the words "All Natural", the net weight and a reminder to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
In the kitchen
- Simmer in curries, soups and coconut milk gravies
- Add to stock for Thai style soups
- Grind with garlic and chilli for a paste
- Steep a teaspoon in boiled water for a lemongrass infusion
Storage
Keep the sachet tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening; tipping them into an airtight jar after opening helps.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
