Curry leaf powder from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 30g. Curry leaves are dried and ground to a green powder that brings their savoury, slightly citrus aroma to a dish when fresh leaves are not to hand.
Fresh curry leaves go into almost every Sri Lankan curry and tempering. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has exported since 1992 and processes and packs its spices in its own factories, which hold ISO 22000 certification.
In the pack
- 30g of curry leaf powder
- Flat printed sachet with a grey and green label
The grey label prints the name (as "Curryleaf Powder") in English, Sinhala and Tamil, the words "All Natural", the net weight and a reminder to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
In the kitchen
- Stir into curries, dhal and mallung
- Add to hot oil with mustard seeds and onion when tempering
- Sprinkle over rice, potatoes or fried snacks
- Mix into chutneys and spice rubs
Storage
Keep the sachet tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening; tipping them into an airtight jar after opening helps.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
