This Malwatte jar holds cardamom seeds already taken out of the green husk. The small dark brown seeds save the work of cracking pods and grind quickly in a mortar or spice mill.
Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has grown cardamom on its own estates since 2012 and has processed its spices in its own factory since 2019.

In the kitchen
- Grind a pinch of seeds and stir it into milk tea or coffee.
- Use ground seeds in watalappan, payasam, cakes and biscuits.
- Add whole seeds to rice, biryani and slow cooked meat curries.
- A little goes a long way: start with a quarter teaspoon.
Storage
Keep the cap tightly closed and store the jar in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The range label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
