Akbar is the tea brand of Akbar Brothers (Pvt) Ltd of Colombo, the company of the Akbarally family, built on principles laid down by Abbas and Inayet Akbarally. It has been Sri Lanka's largest tea exporter since 1992 and ships Ceylon tea to more than 90 countries. The teas are blended and packed at the company's plant in Kelaniya, near Colombo, under ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and Fair Trade certification, and the packs carry the Lion Logo of 100% pure Ceylon tea. Akbar also runs tea boutiques, including one on the ground floor of the Lotus Tower in Colombo and others in Oman, Kuwait and the Maldives. Single-region teas. Five 200 g loose black teas, each from one growing region: Uva Special, Nuwara Eliya Special, Kandy Special, Kalawana Special and Deniyaya Special. The Ceylon Regional Tea Gift Box puts three regions side by side in pyramid bags.
Black tea. Everyday Premium black tea (also as a 300 g pouch, a 500 g pack and 100 tea bags); the Gold range in tea bags and tins; the Silver caddy, Platinum and the big-leaf Royal Gold teas, from the 80 g and 150 g tins to the 250 g tin. The Classic tins hold Ceylon, English Breakfast and Earl Grey tea, in 250 g and 100 g sizes; Earl Grey also comes as Earl Grey Gold and Royal Earl Grey Gold.
White and green tea. Hand-picked white tea buds as Silver Tips and Golden Tips, in ceramic and hand-crafted tins. Green tea as Green Gold and Jasmine Green Gold, loose or in string-and-tag bags, plus Moroccan Mint, Peppermint Burst and Strawberry Kiwi.
Flavoured and herbal teas. Foil-wrapped bags of Forest Fruit Fusion, Blackcurrant Burst, Strawberry Cream Sensation, Peach and Passion Punch, Lemon and Lime Twist and Chai, and the herbal Chamomile Twist, Rooibos Cream, Lemongrass and Ginger and Ginseng Punch.
