Royal Gold is Akbar's big leaf black tea, made entirely from Orange Pekoe A (OPA), a whole-leaf grade of long, wiry leaves. The leaf is packed loose in a gold tin.
Whole leaves unfurl slowly in the pot, giving a bright, smooth cup with a light floral aroma, some complexity and a gentle sweetness. It is a lighter black tea than a breakfast blend. Taste it plain first; a little honey suits it if you like it sweeter.
The 150 g tin is the larger size of the Royal Gold range and keeps the leaf away from light and damp between pots.

How to brew
- 1 level teaspoon per cup or mug
- Water at a full boil, 100°C
- Steep 4-5 minutes, then strain
