Silver Tips is the white tea grade made from the downy, silvery buds of the tea bush before they open. Akbar selects them from Sri Lanka's highland gardens, where they are picked by hand before dawn and dried in the sun with no further processing.
The liquor is very pale, with a delicate floral taste, a light natural sweetness and a clean finish. Drink it plain. The tips give two or three good infusions, and each one shows a slightly different layer of aroma and flavour.
This 50 g pack comes in a white ceramic tin that keeps out light and moisture and stays useful as a caddy, which makes it a good choice for a gift.
