Golden Tips from Akbar is a white tea made only from the young, unopened buds of the tea bush, picked by hand at dawn at high elevation in Sri Lanka and dried in the sun. Nothing is added: it is 100% pure Ceylon white tea.
White tea is the least processed style of tea. The cup is pale, light and gently sweet, with a floral aroma and very little astringency. Drink the first infusion plain, without milk or sugar, then steep the same buds again; each round brings out a slightly different character.
The 50 g of tips come in a white ceramic tin, which makes a considered gift and keeps the buds well afterwards.
How to brew
- 6-7 tips per teacup
- Water at about 80°C; boiling water scorches the buds
- Steep 3-5 minutes; re-steep the same tips, a little longer each time
Storage
- Close the lid firmly after use
- Keep the tin cool, dry and out of direct sunlight
Blended and packed in Sri Lanka by Akbar Brothers, Colombo, the country's largest exporter of Ceylon tea.
