Classic Ceylon is the plain, unflavoured black tea of the Akbar Classic Collection, sold as 250g of loose leaf in a tin.
The leaf comes from the Dimbula district on the western slopes of Sri Lanka's central hills, from estates the maker places above 4,000 feet. High-grown Dimbula tea is known for a bright, brisk liquor with a clear golden-red colour and a clean finish, and this tea has that character: medium-bodied, balanced, and easy to drink at any time of day.
It takes milk without losing its taste, and it is equally good black. The tin is sealed when packed and keeps the leaf away from light and damp once open.

How to brew
- One level teaspoon of leaf per cup.
- Freshly boiled water, at 100 C.
- Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain.
- Serve plain, with milk, or with a little sugar.
