Akbar Premium is the everyday black tea from Akbar: high-grown Ceylon tea of BOPF (Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings) grade, packed loose in a 500 g carton.
BOPF is a small, finely broken leaf that colours the water quickly, giving a strong, full-bodied cup with a deep amber colour and a brisk, lively finish. It stands up well to milk and sugar, the way most Sri Lankans drink their tea, and it is also good plain.
The large carton suits a family kitchen, an office pantry or a small café. Once opened, tip the tea into an airtight caddy and keep it away from damp and strong smells to hold its aroma.

How to brew
- 1 level teaspoon per cup
- Water at a rolling boil, 100°C
- Steep 3-4 minutes and strain
