The 80 g size of Akbar Royal Gold holds extra large leaf black tea of the Orange Pekoe A (OPA) grade: long, whole, wiry leaves rather than broken pieces. It comes in a square gold tin with a hinged clip lid.
The tea brews a bright amber liquor with a smooth mouthfeel, a delicate, layered flavour and a light floral scent with a hint of sweetness. It is a lighter style of black tea, best plain or with a little honey.
The clip-lid tin keeps out light, dust and damp and is worth keeping as a caddy afterwards. A larger 150 g tin of the same tea is also available.

How to brew
- 1 level teaspoon per cup
- Freshly boiled water, 100°C
- Steep 4-5 minutes and strain
