Kalawana Special is a single-region black tea from Akbar, sold as loose leaf in a 200g pack. The leaf is low-grown Ceylon tea from the Kalawana area, where the tea gardens sit in warm, humid valleys at low elevation.
Low-grown Ceylon teas are known for a dark leaf and a strong, full-bodied cup, and this one is rich and malty with a deep amber colour and a long finish. It is a tea for people who like their cup robust, and it takes milk and sugar very well.

How to brew
- One level teaspoon per cup
- Freshly boiled water at 100°C
- Steep for 3-5 minutes; leave it a little longer for an even stronger cup, then strain
Serving ideas
Drink it black, or add warm milk and sugar straight after straining for a classic strong cup of Sri Lankan tea.

Keep the leaf in a clean, airtight container in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
