This Malwatte jar holds roasted curry powder, the dark brown blend that gives Sri Lankan meat curries their deep colour and toasted flavour. The spices are roasted before grinding, which sets it apart from the paler everyday curry powder.
The company has exported Sri Lankan produce since 1992. Most of what it sells comes from its own plantations of over 7,000 hectares, and it is packed in its own factories.
