Dried pandan flakes from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 9g. Pandan, known as rampe in Sri Lanka, is a long green leaf with a sweet, grassy fragrance; here it is cut into small flakes and dried.
Rampe is cooked with rice and added to curries in Sri Lankan kitchens. The flakes are fibrous, so tie them in a little muslin or strain them out before serving. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has exported since 1992 and processes and packs its spices in its own factories, which hold ISO 22000 certification.
