This Malwatte jar holds gotukola flakes: the small round leaves of gotukola (centella), dried and broken into green flakes. Gotukola is a familiar leaf in Sri Lankan cooking, and the dried form keeps when fresh leaves are hard to find.
Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has kept a herb garden at Warwick Estate since 2020, alongside its spice growing and its spice processing factory.

In the kitchen
- Stir into kola kenda, the Sri Lankan green leaf porridge made with rice and coconut milk.
- Add to mallung (shredded leaves with coconut) and to rice dishes.
- Sprinkle into soups, omelettes and stir fries near the end of cooking.
- Steep a pinch in hot water as a herbal drink.
Storage
Keep the cap tightly closed and store the jar in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The range label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
