This Malwatte jar holds whole fennel seeds, known in Sri Lanka as maduru. The greenish, ridged seeds have a sweet anise flavour that comes through when they are toasted or tempered in hot oil.
The company has exported Sri Lankan produce since 1992. Most of what it sells comes from its own plantations of over 7,000 hectares, and it is packed in its own factories.
