This Malwatte jar holds ground mace, the red brown powder made from the lacy covering around the nutmeg seed. Mace tastes like a lighter, more delicate nutmeg, and the powder blends easily into sauces and batters.
Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC grows, processes and packs much of its produce on its own plantations and in its own factories, and also buys from smallholder farmers. It has grown spices since the early 2010s and runs a spice processing factory.
