Ground ginger from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 40g. Dried ginger root is milled to a fine, pale powder with a warm, peppery heat that works in savoury and sweet cooking.
A teaspoon of the powder stands in for a small piece of fresh ginger in most recipes. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has exported since 1992 and processes and packs its spices in its own factories, which hold ISO 22000 certification.
In the pack
- 40g of ginger powder
- Flat printed sachet with a grey and gold label
The grey label prints the name in English, Sinhala and Tamil, the words "All Natural", the net weight and a reminder to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
In the kitchen
- Add to curries, soups and stir fries
- Mix into marinades for chicken, fish and pork
- Bake into gingerbread, biscuits and cakes
- Stir a pinch into hot water or tea for a ginger drink
Storage
Keep the sachet tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening; tipping them into an airtight jar after opening helps.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
