Ground cumin from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 40g. Cumin seeds are ground to a fine brown powder with an earthy, warm flavour that is central to curries across South Asia.
Cumin pairs naturally with coriander, and the two are used together in many Sri Lankan dishes. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has exported since 1992 and processes and packs its spices in its own factories, which hold ISO 22000 certification.
In the pack
- 40g of cumin powder
- Flat printed sachet with a grey and gold label
The grey label prints the name in English, Sinhala and Tamil, the words "All Natural", the net weight and a reminder to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
In the kitchen
- Add to meat, fish and vegetable curries
- Stir into dhal and lentil soups
- Season roasted potatoes, carrots and pumpkin
- Mix into yoghurt dips and marinades
Storage
Keep the sachet tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening; tipping them into an airtight jar after opening helps.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
