Dried thyme from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 11g. Thyme has tiny leaves with an earthy, gently minty flavour that keeps well when dried and stands up to long cooking.
It is one of the classic herbs of European cooking, often used with bay and parsley. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has exported since 1992 and processes and packs its spices in its own factories, which hold ISO 22000 certification.
In the pack
- 11g of dried thyme
- Flat printed sachet with the newer green Malwatte label
The newer green label prints the name in English, Sinhala and Tamil, the words "All Natural", the net weight, a use within 60 days of opening reminder and the marks ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP and Rainforest Alliance.
In the kitchen
- Add to stews, casseroles and soups
- Season roast chicken, pork and vegetables
- Mix into stuffings, meatballs and sausages
- Use in tomato sauces and bean dishes
Storage
Keep the sachet tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening; tipping them into an airtight jar after opening helps.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
