This Malwatte jar holds moringa leaf powder, the dried leaves of the moringa (murunga) tree ground to a fine green powder. Murunga leaves and pods are common in Sri Lankan home cooking, and the powder is an easy way to add the leaf when fresh is not to hand.
Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC is a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter. Its spice processing factory opened in 2019, and the spice side of the business is ISO 22000 certified.

In the kitchen
- Stir a teaspoon into dhal, soups and coconut milk curries.
- Mix into rice, roti dough and omelettes.
- Blend into smoothies and juices.
- Add towards the end of cooking to keep the green colour.
Storage
Keep the cap tightly closed and store the jar in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The range label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
