Mood Indigo is a low grown Ceylon black tea of FBOP grade from the Tea Spirit range by Battler, packed as 100 g of loose leaf in a tin caddy.
FBOP (Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe) is a broken leaf grade with some tip, and low grown teas from the south of Sri Lanka are known for a dark, full cup. Mood Indigo follows that style: deep in colour, with dark, mellow notes and plenty of body.
In the pack
- 100 g of loose leaf low grown Ceylon black tea, FBOP grade
- Tin caddy, sealed for freshness
- Shelf life of three years from packing, per the maker
Tasting notes
- Leaf: well-rolled, medium-sized broken leaf
- Liquor: deep, dark orange
- Taste: full-bodied and mellow, with dark notes
How to brew
Use one teaspoon (about 2.5 g) of leaf per cup and freshly boiled water. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, then strain. Being a broken grade, it infuses quickly; start at 3 minutes.
Serving ideas
Strong enough for milk and sugar, and good plain in the evening. The tin keeps the rest of the leaf fresh.
