Mc Currie Biriyani Mix is a ready-ground spice blend for making biriyani at home, so you do not have to measure and grind a long list of whole spices yourself. It brings the warm, fragrant character of a Sri Lankan biriyani to chicken, mutton, beef or vegetables cooked together with rice.
The dry range is cleaned, graded, ground and packed at the maker's factory in Makumbura, Pannipitiya, with raw materials and finished products tested in its own laboratory. The pouch carries the line "ISO 22000 Food Safety System Certified".
In the pack
- Biriyani Mix, a fine brown spice powder
- Vacuum packed red printed pouch
- Sold in 100g, 250g and 1kg packs
In the kitchen
- Fry onions in oil or ghee, add the mix and let it cook for a minute before the meat or vegetables go in
- Combine the spiced meat or vegetables with part-cooked rice and finish on a low heat
- Start with a little and add more to suit your taste
Storage
Keep the pouch tightly closed, or tip the spice into an airtight jar, and store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
