This Malwatte tin holds Pure Ceylon Purple Tea, 75g net, from the Single Estate Tea range. Purple tea comes from tea bushes with purple-tinged leaves. The label says it is grown on a limited scale in the company tea gardens in Uva Province, hand-picked and made to bring out a rich, fruity taste.
It is an unusual tea to find from Sri Lanka and makes a good talking point next to the familiar black and green teas.
In the tin
- 75g of loose purple tea
- Rectangular lidded tin with a magenta label and a picture of the dark, twisted leaf
How to brew
Use one teaspoon (about 2.5 g) per cup. Water just off the boil, around 80 C, for 2 to 3 minutes gives a gentle cup; brew longer for more depth. Drink it without milk.
Storage
Close the lid firmly after use and keep the tin in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and strong smells.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
