Dried oregano from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 10g. Oregano is a Mediterranean herb whose dried leaves have a robust, slightly bitter and peppery flavour that holds up well in cooking.
Unlike many herbs, oregano is often preferred dried. Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC has exported since 1992 and processes and packs its spices in its own factories, which hold ISO 22000 certification.
In the pack
- 10g of dried oregano
- Flat printed sachet with the newer green Malwatte label
The newer green label prints the name in English, Sinhala and Tamil, the words "All Natural", the net weight, a use within 60 days of opening reminder and the marks ISO 22000, HACCP, GMP and Rainforest Alliance.
In the kitchen
- Sprinkle over pizza before or after baking
- Add to tomato sauces, soups and stews
- Rub onto lamb, chicken and grilled vegetables
- Mix with olive oil and lemon for a Greek style dressing
Storage
Keep the sachet tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening; tipping them into an airtight jar after opening helps.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
