Silver Tip is the white tea of the Malwatte Single Estate Tea range, packed in a pale grey tin marked Pure Ceylon White Tea, 50g net. The label says it is made only from tender leaf buds, hand-picked in the company tea gardens in Uva Province and given as little processing as possible.
The buds are long, slim and covered in fine silvery down, which gives the tea its name. The cup is very pale and delicate.
In the tin
- 50g of loose Silver Tip white tea
- Rectangular lidded tin with a grey label and a picture of the buds
How to brew
Use water that has cooled to about 80 C, never fully boiling. Allow one to two teaspoons per cup, as the buds are light and bulky, and brew for 2 to 3 minutes. Drink it plain.
Storage
Close the lid firmly after use and keep the tin in a cool, dry place, away from sunlight and strong smells.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
