These are plain dried noodles from Malwatte, in a green and grey printed pack labelled Noodles in Sinhala, English and Tamil, with 400g net weight. The front says they cook in 60 seconds.
They are a quick base for the stir-fried noodles with vegetables, egg or chicken that Sri Lankan families make at home, and for noodle soups.
In the pack
- 400g of dried noodles, no seasoning sachet listed
- Front-of-pack labels for sugar, salt and fat per 100g, with a green vegetarian mark
- Enough for several family meals
In the kitchen
Drop the noodles into boiling water for about a minute, drain and rinse briefly so they do not stick. Toss them in a hot pan with oil, garlic, onion, leeks, carrot and a splash of soy sauce, then add egg, chicken or prawns as you like.
Storage
Keep the pack closed in a cool, dry cupboard.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
