This is the Kandy pack from the George Steuart Regional Collection: Ceylon black tea of BOP grade, all from the Kandy district, packed loose in a 150 g paper canister.
Kandy is the mid-grown region of the island's tea country. The maker describes the cup as a bright infusion with a coppery tone, strong and full-bodied.
In the pack
- 150 g loose leaf tea
- Paper canister
- Grade: BOP
- Region: Kandy, mid-grown
About the grade
BOP (Broken Orange Pekoe) is a small broken leaf. It gives up its colour and flavour quickly, so the brew is strong.
How to brew
Use one level teaspoon, about 2 g, per cup of freshly boiled water and steep for 3 to 5 minutes. A strong Kandy tea takes milk well if you want it.
Storage
Close the canister after use and keep it in a cool, dry cupboard away from strong smells.
George Steuart Teas is the tea company of George Steuart and Co., founded in Ceylon in 1835. It buys, blends and packs its teas at its own facility near Colombo.
