About this experience
Spend two hours at your own cooking station inside the ramparts of Galle Fort, learning Sri Lankan cuisine hands-on with an experienced local chef. Rather than watching a demonstration, you handle the ingredients yourself, cooking over traditional clay pots with coconut spoons, and finish by eating the meal you've made within the Fort.
The chef begins by walking you through the spices and produce on the table — turmeric, curry powder, chilli, cardamom, cinnamon and fenugreek alongside fresh okra, beans, tomatoes, garlic and coconut — before guiding you step by step through dishes such as Dhal Curry, Pol Sambol and Chicken Curry, with room to ask for others you'd like to learn. This is a private session for travellers aged twelve and up, so pace and focus follow your interests. A Sri Lankan chef, your own cooking station and ingredients, and mineral water are included; transport to the venue, extra food or drink, and tips are not. Mention any dietary requirements when you book.
