Malwatte Turmeric Powder is ground turmeric, packed in a 25g printed card carton. It comes from Malwatte Valley Plantations, which processes and packs spices in its own factory.
Turmeric is a root related to ginger. Dried and ground, it gives Sri Lankan rice and curries their warm yellow colour and a mild, earthy taste.

In the kitchen
- Add a pinch to rice as it cooks for yellow rice.
- Stir into dhal, vegetable and fish curries.
- Rub onto fish or meat with salt and chilli before frying.
Storage
Once opened, move the turmeric powder into an airtight jar, or keep the carton tightly closed, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
