Bluefield Chocolate Tea is a flavoured Ceylon tea, not a drinking chocolate. The name describes what you taste in the cup — a distinct chocolate note woven through the character of pure Ceylon leaf — and the packaging makes this plain: 'Chocolate Tea, Taste of Pure Ceylon Tea' is printed across every face of the pack.
The tea behind the flavour comes from Bluefield's own factory on Nuwaraeliya Road in Ramboda, where the leaf is harvested, processed, and packed on site. Ramboda sits in one of Sri Lanka's most established tea-growing districts, and Bluefield's connection to the land there stretches back to 1841, when Maurice Worms — a banker turned pioneer — acquired forest land and began cultivation at what would become Blue Field Tea Mount Harrow. The brand has been associated with that founding moment ever since, carrying 'Since 1840' on its packaging as a reference to those earliest years of the estate.
The pack carries the Ceylon Tea Symbol of Quality, the Sri Lanka Tea Board's lion emblem, which confirms the tea inside is 100% pure Ceylon in origin. A Sri Lanka Tea Board packer registration number also appears on the label, placing the product within the country's regulated export framework. It is packed in Sri Lanka before it leaves the island.
The 100g format is a practical size for everyday use — generous enough to settle into as a regular tin in your cupboard, compact enough to travel well as a gift. Brew it as you would any loose-leaf black tea: measure the leaf, pour freshly boiled water, and allow a short steep before straining into the cup. The chocolate character comes through without any additives to the cup.
