Bluefield Orange Pekoe (OP) Black Tea is a 500g bag of loose Ceylon black tea from Blue Field Tea Gardens at Ramboda, Sri Lanka. The leaf is Orange Pekoe, a whole-leaf grade, sold here by the half kilo.
The tea comes in a red fabric bag printed in gold with swirling floral patterns, the Blue Field Tea Gardens crest and the words Taste of Pure Ceylon Tea, OP and Garden Fresh. The neck is gathered and tied with a yellow cord, and a small tag marked OP hangs from the knot.
OP stands for Orange Pekoe, a main whole-leaf grade of black tea made up of long, wiry leaves without tips. The grade describes the size and appearance of the manufactured leaf rather than a flavour, so what reaches the pot here is whole leaf rather than broken leaf or dust.
The tea was harvested and processed by Blue Field Tea Gardens at Ramboda, Sri Lanka, and its single ingredient is tea. The front of the bag also carries the Ceylon Tea lion symbol, the Sri Lanka Tea Board mark reserved for pure Ceylon tea packed in Sri Lanka.
