About this experience
El Parque Nacional de Minneriya se encuentra en la Provincia del Centro Norte de Sri Lanka y es una de las reservas de vida silvestre más celebradas del país, construida alrededor de un embalse antiguo que atrae una concentración extraordinaria de fauna. El parque es más conocido por «The Gathering» (La Congregación), un evento estacional durante los meses secos cuando cientos de elefantes convergen en la orilla expuesta del embalse para pastar, socializar y bañarse — una de las mayores congregaciones de elefantes asiáticos en el mundo. Más allá de los elefantes, las praderas abiertas y el bosque circundante albergan ciervos, búfalos de agua y una rica variedad de aves.
Una visita típica dura alrededor de tres horas, cubriendo la orilla del embalse y los circuitos de pradera del parque en jeep 4x4. Tu conductor también actúa como tu rastreador, interpretando el paisaje y localizando la vida silvestre mientras mantiene una distancia respetuosa de los animales. Los tickets de entrada se gestionan con anticipación, por lo que no hay colas en la puerta el día de la visita.
La edad mínima para participar es cinco años. Para aquellos que se hospeden a menos de 5 km de la puerta del parque, la recogida y entrega están incluidas como parte de la reserva.

A great place to see elephants in the wild
A really good afternoon trip. We saw plenty of elephants and you could get soo close to them. Our driver was really good and flung some great spots. However, it did get congested at times with los of other jeeps doing t…

Horrible, trafic jams, exhaust fumes, vehicles not adapted, elephants harassed
Horrible! We were in jeeps so couldn’t see if we were sat - behind driver. If we stood the road was so rough we were thrown around and ended up black and blue. Too old for that in our 70’s!
Far too many jeeps allowed in.…
