About this experience
Minneriya National Park liegt in der North Central Province Sri Lankas und ist eines der berühmtesten Wildreservate des Landes, erbaut um ein altes Stausee, das eine außergewöhnliche Konzentration von Wildtieren anzieht. Der Park ist vor allem für „The Gathering" bekannt, ein saisonales Ereignis während der Trockenzeit, wenn sich hunderte von Elefanten an der freiliegenden Uferlinie des Stausees versammeln, um zu grasen, zu sozialisierten und zu baden — eine der größten Ansammlungen von asiatischen Elefanten weltweit. Neben den Elefanten unterstützen die offenen Grünflächen und der umliegende Wald Hirsche, Wasserbüffel und eine vielfältige Vogelwelt.
Ein typischer Besuch dauert etwa drei Stunden und deckt die Uferlinie des Stausees und die Grünlandkreisläufe des Parks mit dem 4x4-Jeep ab. Ihr Fahrer fungiert auch als Ihr Tracker, liest die Landschaft und lokalisiert Wildtiere, während er einen respektvollen Abstand zu den Tieren hält. Eintrittskarten werden im Voraus arrangiert, daher gibt es am Tag kein Anstehen an der Pforte.
Das Mindestalter für die Teilnahme beträgt fünf Jahre. Für Personen, die innerhalb von 5 km vom Parkeingang übernachten, sind Abholung und Rückgabe als Teil der Buchung inbegriffen.

A great place to see elephants in the wild
A really good afternoon trip. We saw plenty of elephants and you could get soo close to them. Our driver was really good and flung some great spots. However, it did get congested at times with los of other jeeps doing t…

Horrible, trafic jams, exhaust fumes, vehicles not adapted, elephants harassed
Horrible! We were in jeeps so couldn’t see if we were sat - behind driver. If we stood the road was so rough we were thrown around and ended up black and blue. Too old for that in our 70’s!
Far too many jeeps allowed in.…
