About this experience
O Parque Nacional de Minneriya situa-se na Província do Centro-Norte do Sri Lanka e é uma das reservas de vida selvagem mais celebradas do país, construída em torno de um antigo reservatório que atrai uma concentração extraordinária de fauna selvagem. O parque é mais conhecido por «The Gathering» (A Concentração), um evento sazonal durante os meses secos, quando centenas de elefantes convergem para a costa exposta do reservatório para pastar, socializar e banhar-se — uma das maiores congregações de elefantes asiáticos em qualquer lugar do mundo. Para além dos elefantes, os campos abertos e a floresta circundante albergam veados, búfalos-de-água e uma grande variedade de aves.
Uma visita típica dura cerca de três horas, cobrindo a costa do reservatório e os circuitos de campos de relva do parque de jipe 4x4. O seu condutor também funciona como seu rastreador, lendo a paisagem e localizando a vida selvagem enquanto mantém uma distância respeitosa dos animais. Os bilhetes de entrada são organizados com antecedência, portanto não há filas à porta no dia.
A idade mínima para participação é cinco anos. Para quem se hospeda a menos de 5 km da porta do parque, o transporte de ida e volta está incluído na reserva.

A great place to see elephants in the wild
A really good afternoon trip. We saw plenty of elephants and you could get soo close to them. Our driver was really good and flung some great spots. However, it did get congested at times with los of other jeeps doing t…

Horrible, trafic jams, exhaust fumes, vehicles not adapted, elephants harassed
Horrible! We were in jeeps so couldn’t see if we were sat - behind driver. If we stood the road was so rough we were thrown around and ended up black and blue. Too old for that in our 70’s!
Far too many jeeps allowed in.…
