Ground cinnamon from Malwatte, packed in a flat printed sachet that holds 27g. The pack shot shows rolled cinnamon quills beside the fine, warm brown powder, which gives a sweet, woody scent to both savoury and sweet dishes.
Cinnamon is one of the best known spices of Sri Lanka. Malwatte grows cinnamon on its own estates and runs a cinnamon factory at the Talduwa division of Vincit Estate.
In the pack
- 27g of cinnamon powder
- Flat printed sachet with a grey and cinnamon brown label
The grey label prints the name in English, Sinhala and Tamil, the words "All Natural", the net weight and a reminder to use the contents within 60 days of opening.
In the kitchen
- Add to meat, chicken and vegetable curries
- Bake into cakes, biscuits and breads
- Stir into porridge, rice puddings and milk drinks
- Dust over fruit, toast or coffee
Storage
Keep the sachet tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. The label asks you to use the contents within 60 days of opening; tipping them into an airtight jar after opening helps.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
