About this experience
You cook a full Sri Lankan rice and curry spread in Kandy City, at your own station, under the eye of a local chef who does this every day. The island's kitchen runs on spices, herbs, seafood, meat, poultry, grains, rice and vegetables, and this class takes you through the everyday version of it rather than a restaurant showpiece. The menu is steamed rice, a dhal or breadfruit curry, a chicken or fish curry, and three vegetables.
Your ingredients are laid out at the venue and the chef walks you through the meal step by step, one dish at a time. You learn to break open a coconut, the ingredient that underpins most of what you are cooking, and you temper and season your curries as you go, with Sri Lankan folklore filling the gaps between stages. Classes start at 9.00 AM or 6.00 PM, and you sit down to eat what you have made as lunch or dinner depending on which start time you choose. You leave with printed recipes for every dish.
The price covers the chef, your cooking station and all ingredients, and the meal itself. Transport to and from the venue is not included. Booking is confirmed instantly, for one to eight guests, and adult pricing applies to everyone. Wear comfortable clothing, and tell us in advance about any dietary requirements so the chef can plan around them. Cancel more than 24 hours ahead for a full refund; inside that window the booking is non-refundable.
