This is Earl Grey from the Malwatte Best Sellers Tea Choice range: a lilac and green printed box marked Pure Ceylon Tea, Loose Leaf Tea and 150g net weight, with bergamot fruit and leaves pictured on the front.
Earl Grey is black tea flavoured with bergamot, a citrus fruit, which gives it a fragrant, lightly citrus aroma. The maker suggests drinking it hot or iced.
In the box
- 150g of loose-leaf Earl Grey Ceylon black tea
- Printed card box carrying the Ceylon Tea lion mark
How to brew
Use one teaspoon (about 2.5 g) per cup with freshly boiled water and brew for 3 to 5 minutes. Earl Grey is usually drunk without milk, perhaps with a slice of lemon. For iced tea, brew it a little stronger, let it cool, then pour it over ice.
Storage
Once opened, fold the inner pack closed or tip the leaf into an airtight caddy, and keep it in a cool, dry place away from strong smells.
Malwatte is the food brand of Malwatte Valley Plantations PLC of Colombo, a Sri Lankan grower, manufacturer and exporter of tea and spices.
