Green Elephant is the pure Ceylon green tea of the Ceylon Elephant range by Battler, here packed as 200 g of loose leaf in an emerald green tin caddy with gold detail and an elephant motif.
The grade is OPA, a long, bold whole leaf. The maker says it is grown at higher elevations, where the cooler weather gives a lighter, more delicate leaf. It brews a light golden liquor with fresh vegetal notes.
In the pack
- 200 g of loose leaf tea in a tin caddy.
- Ingredient: pure Ceylon green tea, OPA grade.
- Keep the tea closed, cool and dry, away from strong smells. The maker gives a shelf life of three years.
Tasting notes
Fresh and clean, with a light golden colour, vegetal and grassy notes and a smooth finish.
How to brew
- Use one teaspoon of leaf (about 2.5 g) per cup.
- Let boiled water cool to about 80 C.
- Steep for 2 to 3 minutes; longer steeping makes green tea bitter.
Serving ideas
Serve plain, or with lemon or fresh mint. Long leaves can be steeped two or three times. The tin keeps the leaf away from light and moisture and makes a useful gift.
